Carl Dion (Tucker) Brave Rock is the firstborn child of Ramona Big Head and Mark Brave Rock. His traditional Blackfoot name,
Amskapohkitopii (American or South Rider), came from a dream his mother had when Carl was still a teenager. The name was transferred to him by elder, Bruce Wolf Child (Makoyipooka). The transfer was done in the most humblest and simplest of naming ceremonies in Makoyipooka’s living room for a payment of $20 and a package of tobacco.
Carl passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, in Lethbridge at the age of 39 years.
A wake service was held at White Calf Hall, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. The funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, South Hill Chapel, 950 Main Street, Cardston on Wednesday, Dec. 29. Interment followed at the Blood Band Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
