Fort Macleod RCMP seize fentanyl and cash

A 25-year-old Brocket man faces drug trafficking charges after Fort Macleod RCMP seized drugs and cash during a routine investigation.

RCMP responded Feb. 24 to a complaint of a male passed out in the driver seat of a running motor vehicle at a Fort Macleod business.

Police seized 738 grams of what they believe is fentanyl along with $30,000 in cash. The drugs were submitted for analysis.

“This investigation started with a phone call from a concerned citizen of the community, providing information to the police, which led to this seizure,” Sgt. Bryan Mucha of the Fort Macleod RCMP said.

“The presence of fentanyl is not only harmful to drug users, but also negatively impacts the overall health and safety of all citizens of Fort Macleod and its surrounding communities.  Fort Macleod RCMP are committed to working towards providing a safer community for its residents.”

Douglas Yellow Horn  is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime with a value of more than $5,000; and operating a motor vehicle without a licence.

Yellow Horn was held for a judicial interim release hearing and was released on a $5,000 promise to pay release order. He is to appear in Fort Macleod provincial court on March 16.

Mucha encouraged members of the public who suspect drug or gang activity in their community to report it to the RCMP. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
