The Dueling Piano Kings are getting set to battle for the piano-playing crown on the Empress Theatre stage Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m.
During this unique, fun, interactive show, the Kings try to out-play one another based on audience requests for songs.
The Dueling Piano Kings have a repertoire that spans more than six decades of music, and includes classic rock, retro, country, rap, Top 40 and more.
The Calgary-based duo of Pat McGannon and Jesse Peters won “Entertainers of the Year” at the Canadian Event Industry Awards in March 2019 and were the first winners ever of the 2017 Calgary Event Award for “Best Entertainer.”
McGannon has more than five decades of piano-playing experience.
He has performed all over the world, including events for President Bill Clinton, actor Tom Hanks and the late Glenn Frey of The Eagles.
McGannon has performed with Dueling Piano Kings at the Scotiabank Saddledome for several Calgary Flames and Calgary Roughnecks games, as well as at McMahon Stadium for Calgary Stampeders games
McGannon has performed all over North America, Europe and Japan.
R&B/hip-hop artist Jesse Peters joins McGannon as the second half of The Dueling Piano Kings.
“I’m an unapologetic fan of all things soulful,” Peters said. “Soul music is connected to the real stuff of life: struggle, identity, being free to be yourself.”
Peters has secured song placements on shows such as Global’s Family Law (2021), Syfy’s Bitten (2013), Showcase’s Continuum (2013), and CBC’s Arctic Air (2013).
Peters has been nominated twice for Western Canadian Music Awards, including Rap Recording of the Year (2006) and R&B/Soul recording of the Year (2009).
The Duelling Piano Kings ensure every single song request is honoured at their shows.
Their smartphone app allows audience members to send a request in real time right to the performers. Pen and paper will also be available too.
