Triumphant return for Fort Macleod Triathlon

Fort Macleod Triathlon returned to the sports scene Saturday after a two-year pandemic-imposed absence.

Ninety-two athletes from across southern Alberta turned out to compete in Olympic, sprint, super sprint, youth and team categories.

Rob Slawson placed first in the Olympic distance event, completing the swimming, cycling and running in a time of 2:35:37.

Tim Yaworski placed second in the Olympic distance in a time of 2:41:14, followed by Coreen Slawson in 2:41:31, Camilla Spackman in 2:56:12 and Mark Baird in 3:03:49.

JD Gibb was sixth in Olympic distance  in a time of 3:10:47, followed by Niki Kearl in 3:27:09 and Shannon Hamilton in 3:28:18.

Top finishers in the sprint distance were Alec Gill in 57:05, Grayson Michel in 1:08:20, Leslie Kramer in 1:08:33, Nicole Burgess in 1:12:31, Christian Lessard in 1:14:16 and Kortney Orr in 1:14:25.

Bentley Togo was first in super sprint in a time of 39:22, followed by Jaclyn Fogtmann in 40:31, Kevin Kindley in 42:28, Suzanne Degroot in 42:50 and Anna chatterton in 45:32.

In the youth competition, Sadie Kramer was first in 14:50, followed by Luke Cunningham in 15:30, Reid Kramer in 15:30, Parks Orr in 16:09, and Dallyn Blake in 16:10.

Team O’Connor won the team event in a time of 14:07, followed by Team Chubb in 18:27 and Team Nartey in 1:22:34.
