Heritage Acres salutes Year of the Horse

Heritage Acres Farm Museum will celebrate the Year of the Horse during its show July 22-24.

Visitors will see field demonstrations or horse-drawn equipment, enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, and thrill to the excitement of mini chuckwagon races.

Visitors will also be treated to the action-packed Team Anatapsii Warrior relay race.

It’s all part of the fun at Heritage Acres 35th show.

Heritage Acres got its start when a group of volunteers set out to protect old farm and ranch equipment.

A pioneer museum was put together on the 185-acre site to preserve, display and demonstrate the pioneer lifestyle of the early farmers and ranchers in Alberta.

The Oldman River Antique Equipment and Threshing Club continues to gather and collect equipment and buildings.

The buildings include a general store, Jumbo Valley Knox Presbyterian Church, a long house, Ashvale school, a trapper’s cabin, an old dairy barn and more.
