The Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce will host the 2023 Antiques, Collectibles and Gun Show on Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.
The 2023 Fort Macleod Antiques, Collectibles and Gun Show is sold-out.
Fifty-two vendors from Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia snapped up all the available tables from the Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce.
“The vendors who came last year did great and are coming back,” Chamber executive assistant Sydney Tobler said. “Word got out that our show was really good, and now we have more.”
The show and sale runs from 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 16 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.
Gun dealers will account for more than 80 of the tables rented by the Chamber of Commerce.
More than 45 antiques and collectibles dealers have booked the remaining tables.
“We have a lot of new vendors this year,” Tobler said.
The antiques and collectibles vendors are bringing a wide variety of goods, including furniture, Pyrex, military, knives, Dutch cutting boards, comics, oil cans, signage, advertising and toys.
Gun vendors will offer a wide variety of new and vintage guns.
Tobler said the dealers are coming to Fort Macleod after attending a successful show and sale in Olds.
“They’re really excited to see how our show is,” Tobler said.
In conversations with the vendors, Tobler was asked what people in Fort Macleod and district like to collect.
The vendors will do their best to bring goods that will be of particular interest to the Fort Macleod market.
Collectors could find themselves benefitting from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although shows and sales were shut down, the dealers continued to buy merchandise so they will come to Fort Macleod well-stocked.
Firearms specialist Terry Bryant will attend the Fort Macleod show to help buyers with the transfer of guns.
Fort Macleod Lions Club will operate the concession during the show and sale.
The Foothills Centre is supplying manpower to help the Chamber and vendors with set-up and take-down.
Alberta hardware is sponsoring a pancake breakfast for the antiques, collectibles and gun vendors on Saturday morning.
There will be automated teller machines (ATMs) at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.
Planning is well in hand but the Chamber could still use more volunteers to sell tickets.
