Livingstone Range names PEAKS Campus co-ordinator

Livingstone Range School Division announced last week that Griffin Contini has been named PEAKS Campus Facilitator.

In this role, Contini will work with community partners to build one-of-a-kind programs at PEAKS Campus in the Crowsnest Pass.

Already, students have opportunities for environmental field science including dual high school and post-secondary credit courses with Lethbridge College, and unique curricular-connected learning activities at PEAKS.

In his new role, Contini will work with Livingstone Range’s place-based education supervisors in the division’s ongoing pursuit of exceptional student experiences and education.

Contini holds Bachelor of Kinesiology and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Lethbridge.

A certified teacher, Contini also has volunteered as a mountain safety operations ski patrol team member at Castle Mountain; has experience in forestry reforestation, survey, and wildfire fighting; and is a certified tandem canoe lake instructor.

“We are very excited to add Griffin to the team here at PEAKS Campus,” associate superintendent of curriculum and innovation Chad Kuzyk said. “His experiences and expertise in place-based education are invaluable and we are very fortunate to have Griffin work with our staff and students.”

Contini looks forward to working with students in place-based education.

“I am so excited to provide Livingstone Range students the resources and tools to experience the Rocky Mountains and Foothills of Treaty 7 Territory outside of their traditional classroom,” Contini said. “PEAKS Campus is an opportunity for us to immerse ourselves in our community to learn about the unique people, places, and ecosystems that enrich it.”

An active person, you can typically find Contini in the outdoors camping, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, canoeing, and skiing.

When he’s not doing that, he enjoys woodworking and carving soapstone sculptures.
