Zanna’s steer nets $18,000 for Alberta Children’s Hospital

STEPHANIE WIPF, GAZETTE CONTRIBUTOR

In January 2020 our family was shattered over the loss of our daughter Zanna Marie who passed away at five months due to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). The community of Fort Macleod graciously pulled together to support us during this loss.

As time went by we found ourselves wanting to do something positive to show our gratitude while honouring Zanna so we took some of the funds given to us and brought two heifer calves to start Zanna Marie’s Legacy Herd.

Everyday, twice a day, Zanna’s siblings Deegan and Cj would be up feeding and caring for their calves. They worked hard to start Zanna’s herd and it paid off. On Dec. 16 we took a steer from Zanna’s legacy herd and sold it to raise money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital at the Picture Butte Auction Market for $18,315.10!

This is the second sale we’ve be able to raise money in her honour for the Alberta Children’s Hospital and we look forward to this a lot. It warms our hearts knowing where this donation is going and how much change it will make for so many families.

We want to say to everyone who got involved what a big difference this will make. Thank you for helping us raise money to help others and honour Zanna. We know she’s looking down on us from heaven cheering on all the fantastic people who helped make this happen.
