The F.P. Walshe Flyers won two of three games on the weekend to place third in the junior high A boys basketball postseason tournament.
Matthew Halton Hawks hosted the tournament in Pincher Creek on Friday and Saturday.
Flyers 60 Panthers 33
The Flyers went into the tournament ranked fourth after the regular season, which meant they took on No. 5 Crowsnest Pass Panthers in the opening round.
The Flyers took a 12-8 lead Friday in the first quarter and were ahead 23-12 by halftime.
A big third quarter put the Flyers up 45-23 on their way to a 60-33 victory.
Jaxxon Woods led the Flyers with 13 points and Roper Peterson had 11.
Zannah Christophe, Kayson Creighton and Gabe Traspe each had eight points for the Flyers.
Ryder Peterson and Rope McDougall had four points apiece for the Flyers and Trayson Van Huigenbos and Nathan Gurney each had two.
Hawks 50 Flyers 22
That win advanced the Flyers to the semifinals on Saturday and a match with the league’s No. 1 team in the regular season, Matthew Halton Hawks.
F.P. Walshe got off to a strong start but could not sustain it as the Hawks soared to a 50-22 win to move on to the championship game.
The Hawks led 18-9 after the first quarter and 32-11 at halftime.
Gabe Traspe was top scorer for the Flyers with nine points and Roper Peterson had five.
Jaxxon Woods had three points for the Flyers, Zannah Christophe and Ryder Peterson each had two and Trayson Van Huigenbos had one.

The loss sent the Flyers to the third-place playoff and a meeting with the Willow Creek Composite Cobras.
The game proved to be a nail-biter, with the Flyers winning on the strength of two clutch free throws by Ryder Peterson in the dying seconds.
