School division names W.A. Day school assistant principal

Andrea Donnelly is the new assistant principal of W.A. Day school in Fort Macleod beginning in the 2025-’26 school year.

Livingstone Range School Division made the announcement last week.

“Andrea has shown a passion and dedication for the learning of Fort Macleod students for many years, both as a classroom teacher and as the learning support teacher here at W.A Day,” W.A. Day school principal Nick Beer said. “I am excited to be working with her as she moves into her new role as assistant principal.”

Donnelly holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of British Columbia (Kelowna) and a bachelor of elementary education degree from the University of Victoria (Kelowna).

Donnelly has 20 years of teaching experience, including learning support and literacy intervention.

At present, Donnelly is the learning support teacher at W.A. Day school.

“Her wealth of experience and knowledge will continue to be a benefit for our school community,” Beer added.

Donnelly, whose career journey includes teaching Kindergarten through Grade 6, is thrilled to step into the role of assistant principal at W.A. Day school.

“This new opportunity fills me with excitement as I continue to grow in my career and work alongside an amazing team to help every student thrive,” Donnelly said. “I look forward to bringing my experiences, enthusiasm, and love for lifelong learning to this new chapter.”

Outside of her professional life, Donnelly has a passion for a wide range of hobbies — from mountain biking and rock climbing to running, fishing, hunting, and travel.

Donnelly feels lucky to share her adventures with her husband and two teenage children, and now a new puppy, Tucker, who she hopes will become their future hunting dog.
