Livingstone Range School Division named Greg Freer the new principal at F.P. Walshe school next fall, replacing the departing Chad Jensen.
There will be a change in the leadership team at F.P. Walshe school next fall.
Livingstone Range School Division last week announced that Greg Freer has been named principal of F.P. Walshe school beginning in the 2025-’26 school year.
“We are excited to welcome Greg as the new principal of F.P. Walshe school,” deputy superintendent Richard Feller said. ”Having served as assistant principal for the past two years, Greg has already built strong relationships with lasting impact, and we are excited to see him bring his wealth of experience, innovative approach, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence to this new role.”
“We are confident Greg will continue to inspire both staff and students alike at F.P. Walshe.”
Freer takes over as principal from Chad Jensen, who is leaving Livingstone Range for a position at Prairie Winds school in Coaldale.
Freer holds bachelor of education and masters of education (educational leadership and school improvement) degrees from the University of Alberta.
Freer has 31 years of teaching experience, the last 25 of which have been with Livingstone Range.
Freer has been a school administrator since 2016, including as principal of Matthew Halton school in Pincher Creek and most recently as assistant principal of F.P. Walshe school.
Freer is grateful to continue the relationships with students, staff, and families.
“I have appreciated the collaboration and support over the last two years from all stakeholders,” Freer said. “I am excited to continue to build upon the solid foundations established in recent years, while also creating new innovative opportunities for our students to best meet their individual needs.”
Although Freer has a few collectable motorcycles that he enjoys, as the weather gets nicer Freer is more likely found mountain biking in the coulees.
Freer has been to more than 30 countries, many multiple times, and loves to travel with his wife of 28 years, Tania, and their two young adult children.
