Centre Stage Series full steam ahead this fall

Folk-pop musical duo Madison Violet to perform as part of the Centre Stage Series.

The Empress Theatre is moving forward with a Centre Stage season for 2025-’26 while renovations take place at the theatre through the fall.

This year, the first two concerts of the six-show series are planned for Trinity United Church while the rest will take place in the newly renovated Empress Theatre beginning in January.

“Things look a bit different this season as we will not have assigned seating due to using two locations for the series, but we’re looking forward to welcoming a new collection of fantastic Canadian talent for our patrons,” said John Wort Hannam, programming director for the Empress.

Comprised of six concerts running October through April, the Centre Stage Series offers a mix of musical styles and genres, including:

  • Oct. 11 — Jeffery Straker Duo, a Saskatchewan piano-based folk singer-songwriter.
  • Nov. 7 — Madison Violet, a Juno Award-nominated Ontario folk-pop female duo.
  • Jan. 29 — Tamar Ilana and Ventanas, a Toronto based world music and flamenco dance ensemble.
  • Feb. 5 — Lennie Gallant, an East Coast Music Award-winning songwriter from P.E.I.
  • March 28 — The Gift: Words and Music of Ian Tyson, a group of Alberta-based musicians performing 50 years of Ian Tyson’s iconic western songs.
  • April 29 — Delhi 2 Dublin, a Vancouver world music group playing a fusion of Bhangra, electronic, funk, reggae, and Celtic music.

Centre Stage series subscriptions are on sale until the first show in October for $210 and are at www.macleodempress.com, 403-553-4404 or through the Box Office on Main Street.
