Fort Macleod organizations have until Thursday, Dec. 22 to submit applications for 2023 grants from the Town of Fort Macleod.
Chief administrative officer Anthony Burdett reminded council last week of the approaching deadline.
“Organizations in town can Still submit up until that point,” Burdett said.
Burdett gave council the reminder during its Dec. 12 meeting at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.
Council each year awards grants to the volunteer-driven organizations in Fort Macleod.
Last year, council approved $67,000 in grants to organizations.
Recipients included thE agricultural society, Allied Arts Council, Chamber of Commerce, Santa Claus Parade committee, handibus society, library and Willow Creek Community Adult Learning Society.
‘“We have a lot of great organizations in our community, a lot of great volunteers,” Burdett said. “So if there’s something the town can help out with we can have the submissions.”
The town’s grants to organizations program is intended to support community development of non-profit groups in Fort Macleod.
The town’s priority is to fund recreation programs, arts and culture events and programming, as well as senior, Family and community experiences.
To be eligible for a grant, organizations must::
- Be locally managed, developed and delivered programs, special events and services that focus on building and growing communities that support well-rounded, healthy and active lifestyles.
- Be a registered non-profit organization under the Societies Act.
- We a society in good standing in Alberta.
- Be in possession of a town business licence, if applicable.
- Submit the previous year’s financial statements.
Any groups previously funded by the town must include a detailed description of how the money was used with the application.
