Katelyn Heidinger returns to the day camp team for another summer.
Heidinger was born and raised in southern Alberta and has been living in Fort Macleod now for a little over two years with her husband, daughter, two cats and a baby girl joining their family in November.
During the school year, Heidinger works as a teacher at F.P. Walshe school and has loved every minute of it.
Heidinger has had the opportunity to work with youth for almost 14 years, running summer and school programs in libraries, museums, and aquariums — though she would have to say that running the drama camps here has been her favourite.
Heidinger has loved seeing the talent and creative spirits of the campers who joined the camps last year, and has many fond memories of workshopping original plays and skits to perform for their friends and families at the end of the week.
“It is never a dull moment,” said Heidinger, who is excited to get started and have some fun this summer.
Joining Heidinger on the drama camp team again this summer is Brynn Norton, who is originally from Magrath and is taking the music-education degree course at the University of Lethbridge.
Norton plays the flute, teaches music in Lethbridge, and had fun teaching the summer camps last year.
Norton has been involved in many facets of the arts throughout her life and is excited to be back for another year at the Empress.
The third member of the drama camp instructor team is Noah Austin, who has grown up in Fort Macleod and last month graduated from F.P. Walshe school.
Austin has been a part of three recent plays at the Empress: Romeo and Juliet, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Music Man.
Austin is looking forward to being one of the instructors and the performances that will be put on as a result of these summer camps.
