Nathaniel Bisschop accepted the Livingstone Macleod Association Bursary from F.P. Walshe school principal Chad Jensen. The award was presented Thursday during Livingstone Range School Board’s 2022-’23 Honouring Student Excellence Awards.
An F.P. Walshe school student who plans to study auto mechanics received a major bursary Thursday to help with his studies at SAIT.
Nathaniel Bisschop, a graduating Grade 12 student, received the $2,000 Livingstone Macleod Association Bursary.
“Since a very young age, Nathaniel has had a love of fixing things,” F.P. Walshe school principal Chad Jensen said. “From fixing bikes to tinkering with his truck and other vehicles.”
The bursary was presented Thursday during the 2022-’23 Honouring Student Excellence Awards hosted by Livingstone Range School Board at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.
The Livingstone Macleod Association Bursary is open to grade 12 students completing their high school diploma and will attend a trades post-secondary institution.
The recipient must have demonstrated academic prowess and have shown the desire to enter their selected trade throughout Grade 1-12.
Recipients are to attend Olds College, SAIT, NAIT, the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge College or the University of Alberta agricultural program.
Jensen said Nathaniel spoke of the important role his uncle played in mentoring his interest in mechanics.
“At our school Nathaniel has had a really positive influence on our culture,” Jensen said.
Teachers describe Nathaniel as someone who always completes his work on time and is willing to contribute his insight and knowledge during class.
“He’s always treated his classmates and staff with the utmost respect, and we’re very happy for him winning this award,” Jensen added. “We wish him all the best at SAIT and in the future.”
