Raegan Gurney, Bethany Loyst and Zoe Nelson represented F.P. Walshe school in the Chinook Basketball League all-star game Wednesday at County Central high school in Vulcan.
A trio of F.P. Walshe Flyers suited up Wednesday for the Chinook Basketball League’s all-star game.
Raegan Gurney, Bethany Loyst and Zoe Nelson of F.P. Walshe played for Team 1 in the game at County Central high school in Vulcan.
Other members of Team 1 included Brynn Grose, Aliyah MacGarva and Andrea Smyth of Matthew Halton Hawks and Bella Moller, Amelia Van Bussel and Ashlyn Yellow Wings of St. Mike’s Dragons.
Team 1 coaches were from Matthew Halton and St. Mike’s schools.
Team 2’s line-up included Kobe Small Eyes, Rainbow Delaney, Taleaya Curly Rider and Mika Weasel Moccasin from Kainai Warriors; Emily Talbot, Maddi Beusekom and Grace Shea from Coalhurst Crusaders; and Addie Peterson, Emilia Quinteros and Jessica Mackin of Willow Creek Composite Cobras.
Team 2 coaches were from Kainai and Coalhurst.
The teams were evenly matched, with Team 2 pulling out a 67-60 victory.
The teams were tied 20-20 after the opening quarter, with Team 2 puling in front 32-25 at halftime.
Team 2 continued to lead 52-40 by the end of the third quarter.
Team 1 rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points to narrow the gap, but Team 2 held on for the 67-60 victory.
Emily Talbot scored 27 points to lead Team 2 to the victory.
Rainbow Delaney had 11, Madison Beusekom had 10, Kobe Small Eyes and Taleaya Curly Rider each had six, Grace Shae had four and Jessica Mackin had two for Team 2.
Raegan Gurney led Team 1 scoring with 19 points and Andrea Smyth had 15.
Aliyah MacGarva had nine points for Team 1, Zoe Nelson and Ashlyn Yellow Wings each had seven, Brynn Grose had two and Amelia Van Bussel had one.
