Fort Macleod 150th anniversary celebration kicks off next week

Fort Macleod’s 150th anniversary celebration is less than a week away.

The schedule is still being finalized as the week-long bash approaches.

“It’s going to be an amazing week,” said Coun. Mackenzie Hengerer, who chairs the 150th anniversary organizing committee.

The celebration will feature a pro rodeo, musical entertainment in several venues, a barbecue, pancake breakfasts, wrestling, a drone show, Canada Day celebration and much more.

“We hope to see everybody out, because there’s going to be a lot of amazing things going on,” Hengerer said.

The following is the schedule as of June 14.

Tuesday, June 25

10 a.m. — Agricultural show at Midnight Stadium.

11:30 a.m. — Beer gardens at Midnight Stadium.

6 p.m. — Pro rodeo at Midnight Stadium

Wednesday, June 16

10 a.m. — Agricultural show at Midnight Stadium.

6 p.m. — Pro rodeo at Midnight Stadium.

Thursday, June 27

7:30 p.m. — Tim Isberg concert at the Empress Theatre.

Friday, June 28

12 noon — Street curling at the Legion.

12 noon — Barbecue at Pioneer Lodge with music by Celtic Routes.

3 p.m. — Corporate dunk tank challenge at the Legion.

3 p.m. — Reception centre opens at the community hall.

3 p.m. — The Welcome Mat opens for socializing.

4 p.m. — Free barbecue on Main Street.

5 p.m. — 150th anniversary opening ceremonies on Main Street.

6 p.m. — Grassland Singers on Main Street.

6:30 p.m. — Pure Power Wrestling at the arena.
