The temporary closure of the Fort Macleod Health Centre emergency department that began Wednesday due to an unexpected clinic personnel shortage and inability to secure coverage will be extended until 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, when it will reopen to provide 24-hour service.
During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency during these times.
EMS calls will be rerouted to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
Patients seeking care can access emergency services at Chinook Regional Hospital, the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Claresholm Community Health Centre.
Community members are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions.
