Fort Macleod emergency department temporarily closed

Fort Macleod Health Centre’s emergency department will temporarily close overnight tonight – due to a lack of physician coverage.

The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 and continue until 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.

During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

EMS calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.

People requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
