Fort Macleod Mavericks are the champions of the Central Alberta Tier 4 U13 Hockey League’s blue division.
The Mavericks swept Pincher Creek Chinooks in their weekend best-of-three championship series.
Fort Macleod had swept Claresholm Thunder to advance to the finals while Pincher Creek beat Coaldale Cobras 2-1 in the other best-of-three semifinal.
Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek and Claresholm finished tied for first place in the regular season with 30 points apiece.
The Mavericks are Haze Sharratt, Drake Soop, Wyatt Bartek, Jayden Elcocks, Jasper Sharratt, Logan Weaselhead, Cooper Sommerfeldt Heather, Sienna Day Chief, Lukah Day Chief, Eli Brown, Strider Rabbit, Tucker English, Rogan Bruised Head, Ryder Tailfeathers, Jaxxon Woods, Keyon White Cow and Nash Potts.
Jadon Sharratt is head coach, Mike Sommerfeldt and Turner Sharp are assistant coaches and Caitlyn Leader is manager.
Mavericks 4 Chinooks 3
The Mavericks won the series opener Friday night in Pincher Creek in dramatic fashion.
Jasper Sharratt scored with 57 seconds left in the third overtime period as the Mavericks edged the Chinooks 4-3.
Fort Macleod had opened 2-0 first period lead only to have Pincher Creek rally to take a 3-2 lead in the second.
Jayden Elcocks tied the game in the third period to force overtime.
Jasper Sharratt had a goal and an assist and Elcocks, Lukah Day Chief and Strider Rabbit had the other goals.
Wyatt Bartek, Ryder Tailfeathers, Keyon White Cow, Logan Weaselhead and Haze Sharratt each had an assist.
Nash Potts picked up the win in goal for Fort Macleod.
Mavericks 8 Chinooks 3
The Mavericks overpowered the visiting Chinooks 8-3 Saturday to complete the sweep.
The Mavericks took a 3-1 lead in the first period and were up 6-2 after 40 minutes.
Jasper Sharratt had two goals and three assists for the Mavericks and Tucker English had a goal and two helpers.
Strider Rabbit had a goal and an assist and Eli Brown, Ryder Tailfeathers, Jaxxon Woods and Haze Sharratt also scored.
Cooper Sommerfeldt Heather had two assists and Lukah Day Chief and Logan Weaselhead each had one.
Nash Potts made 34 saves in the victory.
