Fort Macleod and district residents planning a special event have a new place to host it.
MA Catering Company Ltd. opened the REO Hall on Wednesday at 470 17th St.
REO Hall has seating capacity of 50 along with food service by MA Catering Company Ltd. in the new state-of-the-art commercial kitchen.
“As soon as I walked in I knew it was a perfect fit,” MA Catering Company Ltd. owner Angela Martin said of the building, which has served as various churches and as home of Third Wave Workout.
“As soon as I came in I could see how it was going to look. I could see it was going to be a great place for a commercial kitchen and the town needed a small rental venue that was new and fresh.”
Angela has a background in construction and served as foreman for the renovation. The outside will soon be upgraded with stucco and cedar shake singles.
Scott Norlin fashioned the REO Hall sign at the front door, as well as the bar.
The hall is named in honour of Angela’s father Joe Asuchak, who is an avid collector of REO automobiles.
“It’s in homage to hm, because he has been very helpful in getting this business up and running,” Angela said.
One of the conditions is that Joe Asuchak and the Checkmates Car Club can use the building for their meetings. Club members parked their vehicles nearby Wednesday for the REO Hall’s grand opening.
The REO Hall is available for full- and half-day rentals. The fee includes use of tables, chairs and tablecloths as well as complimentary coffee and juice.
The REO Hall’s size is suitable for wedding receptions, baby showers, family gatherings, and meetings for businesses, groups and organizations.
Wine glasses and water glasses are available to rent.
MA Catering Company offers a variety of menus to fit any occasion. Outside food is not allowed in the REO Hall.
The company has five Red Seal chefs on call, and about 15 employees.
“We have a great staff,” Angela said.
The company will use the commercial kitchen for its catering work, and is entertaining plans to offer brunch buffets for special occasions such as Mother’s Day.
