The Macleod Gazette was judged the best newspaper of its size in Canada in 2021.
That was one of five awards the Gazette received as News Media Canada last week announced the results of its 2021 awards competition.
The Gazette placed first for Best All-Round Newspaper in its circulation category.
The Gazette was also first for Best Front Page and completed a sweep of the general excellence awards with a first-place finish for Best Editorial Page.
The Gazette placed third for Best Sport Coverage among papers in the same circulation category.
Editor Frank McTighe received a third place award for Best Historical Story for his piece on the anniversary of Vimy Ride.
The Gazette also picked up six awards in the 2020 competition, which was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
McTighe won a first-place award for Best Local Editorial for his editorial about the burning of a Pride flag.
