Mustangs forward is RHL’s most dedicated player

A Fort Macleod Mustang was honoured last month for his commitment and dedication.

Forward Greg Burrows was named the Ranchland Hockey League’s Most Dedicated Player during the 2024-’25 season.

Burrows, 22, suited up for all 20 regular season games, scoring four goals and assisting on six for 10 points to go along with 13 penalty minutes.

Mustangs teammate Haze Gillingham was the only other player in the league to dress for all 20 regular season games.

The Ranchland league handed out its awards in conjunction with the playoff championship series, which Lethbridge Lightning won 4-1 over Nanton Palominos.

The Lightning beat the Nanton Palominos, who were regular season champions with a record of 17 wins and three losses.

Nanton’s Jordan Xavier was honoured as the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Xavier was the leading scorer in regular season with 72 points, including 28 goals and 44 assists in 15 games.

Tyler Watungwa of the Palominos was named Rookie of the Year as he recorded 65 points on 28 goals abd 36 assists in 18 games.

Brandon Aab of Nanton was the league’s top goal scorer with 28, a total he shared with teammates Xavier and Watungwa.

Nanton’s Tyler Butler was named the Ranchland league’s Coach of the Year.

Most Sportsmanlike Player was Stefan Lachapelle of the league’s newest team, the Cremona Coyotes.

Lachapelle was assessed just two penalty minutes in 17 regular season games while recording 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points.

The league’s Goalie of the Year was Alex Sirard of the Lethbridge Lightning.

Sirard had a goals-against average of 3.35 and a save percentage of .919 as he put together a record of six wins and three losses in nine regular season starts.

Nick Ross of the Lightning was named Top Defenceman. Ross had five goals, 13 assists and four penalty minutes in the regular season.
