RCMP seize drugs on Piikani Nation

The Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and Piikani Nation RCMP seized a large quantity of fentanyl Thursday from a local home.

As the result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a home on the Piikani Nation.

As a result of the search, officers seized 101 grams of suspected fentanyl, 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine and four grams of suspected cocaine.

The estimated street value of the drugs is believed to be $33,000.

“This is a significant drug seizure for Piikani Nation and a major disruption of drug trafficking in the community,” RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a new release.

Police also seized an air soft hand gun, Canadian currency and items consistent with drug trafficking.

The RCMP charged Nigel Lucas Big Weasel 39, of the Piikani Nation with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of property obtained by crime

Big Weasel was held for a judicial hearing and remanded into custody to appear in Pincher Creek court of justice on Thursday, June 22.

Brent Milo White Cow, 33, of the Piikani Nation, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

White Cow was released on an undertaking to appear in Pincher Creek court of justice on Aug. 3.

Officers executed arrest warrants on two additional people in the home.
