A Fort Macleod athlete earned a place among the Southern Alberta Minor Football Association all-stars.
Brayden Baird, a Grade 9 student at F.P. Walshe school, played in the association’s all-star game Saturday at the University of Lethbridge.
The association for the last 15 years has staged an all-star game weekend.
About 70 players selected by their coaches took part in the two-day event.
On Friday, the players were put through drills and then the coaches selected two teams.
The teams practiced Saturday morning and were fed lunch.
The two teams had a game against one another in the afternoon.
Brayden, a five foot eight, 150-pound receiver, received the Southern Alberta Minor Football Association first team all-star selection award.
Brayden has played four years of football with the Claresholm Cobras.
The Cobras had a strong season winning the nine-man league championship and earning silver in provincials.
Seven other Cobras were invited to the all-star weekend.
Brayden plans to play high school football next season with the Willow Creek Composite Cobras in Claresholm.
