Dec. 16, 1941 — June 29, 2023

William (Bill) Braun passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the age of 81 with his family by his side after a courageous, lengthy battle with cancer.

Bill was born the ninth child to Isaac D. and Maria (Friesen) Braun on a farm near Blumenthal, Sask. on Dec. 16, 1941. When Bill was five years old the family moved to the Taber area.

Raised in a strict, hard-working family, Bill carried the same convictions through his life, operating his own auto mechanic business in Taber and in 1974 opening the first NAPA store in Fort Macleod. After selling the business Bill farmed and assisted companies with new business start-ups such as Silver Auto in Fort Macleod. In his semi-retirement years Bill worked for FalCan Industries.

Those who knew Bill well knew he was a very talented man with an eye for perfection. Whether it be restoring vehicles or creating to-scale replica buildings, his passion came to life.

Bill is survived by his children Carolyn Dyck of Lethbridge, Corinne (James) Conner of Fort Macleod and Cory (Shawnah) Braun of Lethbridge; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister Katharina Thomas; brother Peter; and a large extended family.

Bill was predeceased by his son Mark; parents Isaac and Maria; and brothers Henry, Abraham, John, Jacob, Cornelius, George and David.

A private family internment will be held. All those who knew Bill are invited to join the family for a celebration of life on Saturday, July 22, 2023, 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Macleod.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Royal Canadian Legion No. 46 or Willow Creek Foundation (Pioneer Lodge), Fort Macleod.
